Privacy Notice

BeatON is a service for watching and listening together, messaging, and sharing with other people. This notice explains the personal information we handle when you use our apps, website, and related services, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Who is responsible

Klimenko Vadim Dmitrievich, an individual developer based in the Russian Federation, operates BeatON under the developer name MONOGON. That operator is responsible for the processing described in this notice and is referred to as “BeatON,” “we,” “us,” or “our.”

For privacy questions or requests, contact privacy@beatonapp.com. Our Terms of Service govern use of the Service.

This notice covers our handling of information. Other services you choose to use through BeatON, including media websites, sign-in providers, and app stores, have their own privacy policies. Their handling of information is described further below where relevant.

2. Information we collect

The information we handle depends on the features you use.

Account and profile information. We collect your email address, sign-in information, username, display name, and account settings. If you add them, we also collect your profile images, biography, and interests. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the account information that provider makes available, such as an identifier, email address, and name. Passwords are stored in a protected, non-readable form.

Content and communications. We process the messages, posts, comments, reactions, images, videos, voice notes, room details, and media links you create or share. This includes information needed to deliver and organize that content, such as participants, timestamps, replies, and read status. We also receive information you send in support requests, reports, appeals, and other correspondence.

Connections and activity. We collect information about your friends, requests, blocks, room participation, shared queues, playback progress, saved media, and interactions with content and other people. We use some of these signals to infer interests, languages, and connections relevant to recommendations, as explained in How we use information.

Device and connection information. When you connect, we receive information such as your IP address, device and app characteristics, language, and technical logs. We use device notification identifiers to deliver notifications. An IP address can indicate an approximate location. BeatON does not request access to your device's precise location.

Contacts you choose to match. If you use contact discovery, we receive transformed email addresses from your address book for matching. The feature and its controls are explained in Contact discovery.

Information from other people. Other users may provide information about you when they message or mention you, invite you to a room, sync contact information, or submit a report. Advertising services may collect information directly from your device as described in Advertising.

An account requires sign-in information. Profile details, uploads, contact discovery, microphone access, and other optional features are your choice. Declining information or a permission needed for a particular feature may prevent that feature from working. Information you include in content may be sensitive; it is handled as part of that content and shared with its audience.

3. How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • Providing BeatON: creating and securing accounts, maintaining profiles and settings, delivering communications, running rooms and shared playback, saving progress, and responding to requests.
  • Recommendations: ranking posts, rooms, and suggested connections using interests, language and topic signals, friendships, and interactions such as likes, comments, messaging activity, invitations, and time spent together in rooms. We analyze post text and media descriptions to identify languages and topics. Messaging activity used for connection ranking concerns who interacts with whom; it is distinct from the content used to deliver messages.
  • Safety and reliability: detecting abuse and security problems, investigating reports, applying our Terms, resolving faults, and protecting users and the Service.
  • Understanding and improving the Service: producing product statistics and evaluating which features and media sources people use. Account-linked statistics are described below.
  • Advertising: displaying and measuring ads, preventing advertising fraud, and supporting personalization where permitted by your choices and applicable law.
  • Service communications and legal obligations: sending account and service notices, answering inquiries, responding to lawful requests, and establishing or defending legal claims.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement for information necessary to provide the features you request; legitimate interests in securing, maintaining, improving, and making the Service relevant for recommendations and limited product statistics; and compliance with applicable legal obligations. We rely on consent for optional contact uploads and for advertising or tracking where consent is required. Processing based on legitimate interests is subject to your rights and reasonable expectations. You can object as described in Your rights.

Device permissions control access to features such as the microphone, contacts, and notifications. A device permission is not a substitute for separate consent required by law. You can withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Product statistics

We collect our own product statistics by default. They include an account identifier, approximate country inferred from the connection, dates of service and room activity, room identifiers, and the website domains of shared media. These records are linked to your account and retained as historical activity while your account remains open, so we can understand use of the Service over time. They do not expire automatically after a fixed period. The statistics do not include message content or complete media URLs.

You may object to this collection by emailing privacy@beatonapp.com. When we process your objection, we stop this collection for your account and delete its existing product-statistics records. We retain the preference needed to honor your choice. This choice does not turn off information processing needed to operate your account, recommendations, or the separate advertising services.

4. What other people can see

Your username and public profile information are visible to other people. Public posts, comments, and public rooms can be discovered by other users. In rooms, participants can see information needed to take part, including the shared queue, messages, and participation or playback activity.

Direct messages are available to their participants. Access to restricted rooms depends on the room's controls and invitations; someone with a valid invitation link may be able to join. Your privacy settings control features such as visibility of activity or friends and who may contact or invite you. Review these settings before sharing information you want to restrict.

An audience restriction does not make content end-to-end encrypted. Messages and uploaded content are processed on our servers. Authorized access may be needed to operate the Service, investigate reports, provide support, or comply with law.

Other people can save, record, or reshare information they can access. Removing it from BeatON cannot erase an independent copy they have made.

5. Contact discovery

Contact discovery is optional. When you choose it and grant contacts access, BeatON reads contact email addresses on your device and transforms them into hashes for matching with accounts. Contact names and the original address-book email addresses are not uploaded through this feature. Hashes remain personal information because they can be matched to known addresses.

We store the submitted hashes, including unmatched ones, and information about the sync until you replace them with a new sync, choose Forget contacts, or delete your account. We use them for contact matching, not advertising.

Someone who has your email address in their contacts may receive your profile as a suggestion even if you have not uploaded contacts yourself. Your email address is not displayed to them through the match. Find me by email in Settings → Privacy controls this matching and is enabled by default. Turning it off prevents matching in either direction. Revoking your device's contacts permission prevents further access; use Forget contacts to remove information already synced.

6. Voice, uploads, and media browsing

Live voice. BeatON uses LiveKit technology to relay room voice to participants. We do not record or retain live room audio. Participants can hear you while you are unmuted and may independently record what they hear. Recorded voice notes sent in chat are stored as messages. You can manage microphone permission in your device settings.

Uploads. Files you select or create for sharing are stored and delivered as part of the relevant profile, message, or post. Files may contain embedded information, such as metadata added by the device that created them. Selecting a file does not give BeatON general access to the rest of your photo library.

Media sources and browsing. Sites opened in BeatON's browser, embedded players, and media hosts receive requests needed to provide their content, including connection information such as your IP address. They may use their own cookies or similar technologies. Their policies apply to that activity.

Your browsing history and browser session information are stored on your device; browsing history is not uploaded to our servers. When you add media to a room, information about the selected item—such as its URL, source page, title, and thumbnail—is processed by BeatON and shared as needed for playback and the room queue. You can remove browsing history and clear browser data using the app's controls.

7. Advertising

BeatON uses Appodeal to display ads in the app. Appodeal and participating advertising partners may process advertising or device identifiers, IP addresses, approximate location, device and app information, ad views and interactions, and technical performance information. This supports ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and, where permitted, personalized advertising. BeatON does not send your account email, messages, contact hashes, or room content to advertising partners for these purposes.

Participating networks can include AppLovin, BidMachine, InMobi, Meta Audience Network, Mintegral, VK's myTarget, and Yandex. Actual participation varies with configuration, region, availability, and privacy choices. These services may process information under their own policies. See Appodeal's privacy policy and partner policy directory for their practices.

The advertising service presents privacy choices where required and makes applicable options available through Settings → Privacy. Device settings also provide advertising controls. On iOS, permission to track is managed through Apple's tracking prompt and system settings. Refusing personalized advertising does not prevent access to BeatON's core features; it may still result in contextual ads and processing needed to deliver them, measure them, and prevent fraud.

We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing device and advertising information with advertising partners may nevertheless qualify as a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for targeted advertising under some privacy laws. Where those laws apply, you can request the relevant opt-out through the available ad privacy controls or by contacting privacy@beatonapp.com. A browser setting does not necessarily change the advertising choices in a separately installed app.

8. When information is shared

We share information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users, according to the features you use, the audience of your content, and applicable settings.
  • With providers supporting BeatON, for functions such as hosting, storage, email, notifications, security, and technical support. They receive information relevant to those functions. Where they process it on our behalf, their use is limited to providing the agreed services and meeting applicable obligations.
  • With services involved in a feature you choose, such as Apple or Google sign-in, Google and Apple notification delivery, and GIF search or media providers. These services receive information needed for the interaction and may have separate responsibilities under their own policies. Notification delivery can expose the content included in a notification to the delivery service and to anyone who can see your device's notifications.
  • With advertising services, as described in Advertising.
  • For legal and safety reasons, where required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate unlawful activity, protect rights or safety, enforce our Terms, or establish or defend a legal claim. We assess requests in light of applicable law and the information needed for the purpose.
  • In connection with a transfer of the Service, such as a sale or reorganization, subject to appropriate protection of personal information and any notice required by law.
  • At your direction or with your consent, where a feature or disclosure requires it.

We may also use or disclose information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it no longer identifies you. Account-linked records and contact hashes are not treated as anonymous merely because they lack a readable name.

9. Where information is processed

BeatON is operated from the Russian Federation, where our service data is hosted. Providers involved in sign-in, notifications, advertising, and other external features may process information in additional countries. Those countries may have different data-protection rules from the country where you live.

Cross-border handling must comply with the requirements applicable to that processing. Acceptance of our Terms or this notice does not itself waive your data-protection rights or supply consent for every international transfer. Contact privacy@beatonapp.com for information about the locations and protections relevant to your data.

10. How long information is kept

We retain information for the purpose for which it is used, taking account of the feature, your choices, security needs, legal requirements, and relevant claims. In particular:

  • Account details, settings, saved media, and related preferences generally remain while your account is active.
  • Messages, posts, comments, and uploaded media remain while needed for the corresponding feature, unless removed by you, through account deletion, or under our moderation rules. Room chat history may be limited to a recent window.
  • Synced contact information remains until replaced or removed as explained in Contact discovery.
  • Account-linked product statistics are retained as historical activity while your account remains open, without a fixed age-based expiry. We remove them when we process an objection or delete your account, as described in Product statistics.
  • Resolved moderation reports are normally removed two years after resolution. Records needed for an outstanding investigation, legal obligation, or claim may be kept for the period relevant to that matter.
  • Technical and security records are retained according to what is needed to diagnose faults, detect abuse, and investigate incidents. Records preserved for a specific investigation may be kept longer than routine operational records.

Deletion from active systems and removal from backups or temporary caches may occur at different times. Residual copies are removed through the applicable retention and cleanup processes. Information retained for a limited legal, security, or recovery purpose is not kept for ordinary account use. Advertising and other independent providers apply their own retention policies to information they collect.

11. Deleting your account

To delete your account, open Settings → Delete account in BeatON and confirm the request. You can also email privacy@beatonapp.com from your registered address with the subject Delete my account. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder.

Account deletion removes your profile and sign-in information from the active service, your authored direct and room messages, the content of your posts and comments, your saved media and playback history, synced contacts, social connections, recommendation records, and account-linked product statistics. Associated uploads are scheduled for removal.

Other people's messages, comments, reactions, and independently saved copies are not deleted merely because your account is deleted. Limited records can remain to preserve the structure of their conversations or comments, without retaining your former profile or authored content for ordinary display. Removal may also take time to reach device caches and backups. We may retain information for the limited legal, safety, and operational purposes described in Retention, including information needed to complete deletion and disconnect sign-in providers.

You can also remove individual content or change settings without deleting your account. Signing out or uninstalling BeatON does not delete your account or the information stored with it.

12. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile, adjust privacy and notification settings, manage contacts, block accounts, and delete content using the controls available in BeatON. Device settings let you manage permissions such as contacts, microphone access, and notifications.

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to:

  • access your personal information and receive a copy;
  • correct inaccurate information or request deletion;
  • restrict processing or object to processing based on legitimate interests, including related profiling;
  • receive certain information in a portable form;
  • withdraw consent, where processing relies on it;
  • opt out of applicable advertising-related sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; and
  • challenge a decision about your request or complain to a competent data-protection authority.

Contact privacy@beatonapp.com to exercise a right, object to product statistics or recommendation processing, or ask about information concerning you that another person supplied. Tell us what you are requesting and provide enough information to identify the relevant account or data. We may request proportionate verification and, where applicable, proof of an agent's authority.

We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any permitted extension or refusal. Where the GDPR applies, the usual response period is one month, subject to its permitted extensions. You can ask us to reconsider a refusal, and any statutory appeal or complaint rights remain available. We do not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

For users covered by Russian personal-data law, requests may also concern information about processing, correction, blocking, destruction, or withdrawal of consent, subject to other lawful grounds for continued processing. You may complain to Roskomnadzor or seek a judicial remedy. Users elsewhere may contact their competent privacy regulator; you do not need to exhaust our contact process before exercising that right.

13. Children and younger users

BeatON is intended for people 13 and older, subject to any higher applicable minimum age and required parental authorization described in our Terms. It is not intended for children under 13.

If you believe someone who does not meet these requirements has provided personal information, contact privacy@beatonapp.com. We will investigate and take appropriate steps to restrict or close the account and remove information collected contrary to applicable requirements, subject to any limited retention required by law.

14. Security and automated systems

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including protected connections, access controls, and safeguards for sign-in credentials. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Automated systems help rank recommendations, detect abuse, limit suspicious activity, and support moderation. Their use does not mean that all content is reviewed or that every harmful activity will be detected. If a restriction affects your account or content, you can request review using the reporting and appeal process in our Terms. Rights concerning automated decisions under applicable law remain available.

15. Website and local storage

The BeatON website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Hosting and security infrastructure still processes ordinary connection information, including requests and IP addresses, to serve and protect the site.

The apps store sign-in information, settings, and cached content on your device to operate and load content efficiently. Third-party websites opened inside the app can use their own cookies and storage, as described in Voice, uploads, and media browsing. Clearing local data does not by itself delete information held with your BeatON account.

16. Changes and contact

We may update this notice when our practices or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. We will provide additional notice of material changes through the Service or your account contact details where appropriate or required, and obtain consent where the law requires it.

For questions, privacy requests, or complaints, contact privacy@beatonapp.com.
